Cooking Up Your Publishing Reality
A pinch of skill, a dash of flair, could this be a recipe for publishing success? There are a lot of ingredients that make a published book a success. It is more than a pinch of one or a dash of another. Everything starts with a goal, then a vision, then your choice of book publishing companies. One is no longer limited to big publishing companies, reliant on a literary agent. Now, there are a host of self-publishing companies ready to take your manuscript and turn it onto a published book.
Chef Dez - Western Canada's own Food Columnist, Culinary Instructor and Cooking Show Performer did just that. He took his manuscript and worked with Trafford to come up with Chef Dez on Cooking, Volume 1. This self-published book is an informative collection of the popular food column Chef Dez on Cooking, currently published across Western Canada, along with over 100 of his most popular and favorite recipes. From appetizers to salad dressings, sauces, side dishes, main courses, desserts, beverages, and low fat meals, Chef Dez on Cooking, Volume 1 has something for everyone. It also includes an array of cultural dishes of Greek and Italian origin, plus his personal favorite recipe for Indian butter chicken. With culinary questions and answers accompanying each of the food columns, this cookbook becomes a valuable kitchen reference with a refreshing perspective on the wonderful world of cuisine.

A Book and a Hammock
Sunday afternoons were a highlight of my week when I was younger. My mom would pick out a book to read, take me with her to the hammock and would start reading the book aloud. Those afternoons created a bond for my mom and me. Reading with her always left me with a warm feeling inside. When my mom was battling cancer, we both sought solace in continuing the habit. This time, I was the one reading aloud to her.I lost mom 20 years ago but I still miss her. I still seek out the hammock when I am overwhelmed with sorrow. The hammock has brought me so much comfort the past 20 years and it still does.
Join me as I go through the books my mom and I have read. I hope you enjoy them as I have.
